Low Bank Ground can be used by independent groups who wish to run their own event or we can help you create the perfect programme using our staff and facilities.
The centre is ideally situated for exploring the Lake District, with excellent facilities for creating a course tailor made to your needs.
If you would like to use our equipment and expertise, staff at the centre can help you plan the course you would like for your group. It may include activities on the lake, or exploring the challenges of the forests and mountains with activities such as mountain walking, rock scrambling or orienteering. Covid-19 - Keeping you safe when you stay with us
The health, safety and wellbeing of all our guests is something we have always taken very seriously.
The coronavirus crisis has presented us with an unprecedented situation that we’re working hard to respond to, to protect those staying with us and our own staff.
We have been careful to ensure that decisions we have made follow the government’s guidelines, and as these are changed and updated, we’re responding immediately to make sure we are implementing the latest and most effective processes possible to ensure you can have a safe stay with us.
After an exceptionally difficult and stressful period for many of us, we know that you’ll be looking forward to enjoying a relaxing break – our sincere thanks for thinking about staying with us.
We want to make sure that the peace and quiet of a stay in our Lake District venues also gives you peace of mind.
Low Bank Ground
Situated close to beautiful Coniston Water, Low Bank Ground is the perfect base for all outdoor activities.
Low Bank Ground can accommodate up to 46 people in two self-contained buildings: Highfield and Rough Close; which can also be hired separately. As well as tailored residential stays, including healthy meals and a full activity programme led by expert staff, Low Bank Ground is available on a self catering basis.
Stone-built Highfield looks out across Coniston water to the Coniston Fells and has direct access to the lakeshore. The building sleeps 38 in 10 bedrooms – five of which have en-suite bathrooms – in a mixture of bunk and single beds. Two large bedrooms are suitable for wheelchair users, and there is a high dependency suite with two profile beds, air conditioning and full hygiene suite.
Rough Close is a traditional Lakeland building which sleeps 14 in four bedrooms, each with their own bathroom. The shore of Coniston Water is a short walk away, across fields.
Highfield and Rough Close both have: kitchen and all necessary equipment to cater for your group; dining room and lounge with television and DVD player; drying room; and Wi-Fi access.
Activities can be provided for your group by booking a member of centre staff in advance of your stay, this gives access to the full range of centre pursuits and all the necessary equipment. Use of either building allows access to the lake shore where we have a jetty, a small pond suitable for introductory kayak sessions and barbecue and campfire area.
