Hinning House is a purpose-built outdoor centre in the beautiful Duddon Valley, close to Scafell Pike, England’s highest mountain.
The Centre is in a spectacular location, surrounded by superb places for rock scrambling, climbing, hill walking, orienteering and mountain biking. There are also beautiful valley walks along the River Duddon, visits to a local hill farm can also be arranged.
I thought Hinning House was not going to be that good because I would be away from my family too long, but I changed my thoughts about it and it was a fantastic time. The best thing I did was Ghyll scrambling. Thanks a lot Hinning House it has helped me a lot.
Hinning House can accommodate up to 30 people, all under one roof, in seven bunk bedrooms. Four of the rooms have six beds, and three have two beds; all bedding is provided.
Hinning House has a cosy atmosphere offering tailored residential stays for schools and independent groups, including healthy meals and a full activity programme led by expert staff; the centre is also available on a self-catering basis. If you are staying self-catered our staff can be booked to run outdoor activities.
There is a very well equipped kitchen with commercial grade equipment, including a ‘pass-through’ dishwasher; as well as a large dining room, drying room, lounge area, computers with internet access and a multi-media DVD-enabled Smartboard. Hinning House has full central heating, as well as a wood burning stove.
It is very good you should try it out! It was the best trip I ever went on! If I could do it again I would. I got to know people better. I did things that I thought I couldn't do.
Our experienced and well-qualified teaching staff have a peerless track record of delivering inspiring and safe outdoor learning. We hold the AHOEC (Association of Heads of Outdoor Education Centres) Gold Standard, LOtC (Learning Outside the Classroom) Quality Badge and AALA (Adventure Activities Licensing Authority) Licence.
