What is Stronger Families?
The Stronger Families Programme supports people across Bradford and Leeds who are facing challenges in being able to develop their skills, move towards the world of work and secure employment. Taking part in the programme is entirely voluntary and is available to anyone who meets the eligibility criteria.
Alongside partners from across Leeds and Bradford we have been given £7 million of funding from The National Lottery Community Fund and the European Social Fund to deliver the programme until September 2021.
Support on offer
The local partner organisations involved are experts at supporting families and giving them the skills and confidence they need to move forward. Each participant, and their family, will have someone who works with them as a Key Worker, helping them to access support from across their local area.
There are many different factors which affect whether people feel ready to start job-searching or secure employment – this is why we also offer specialist help and support in a number of areas including supporting health and well-being, accessing debt and financial advice and building employability skills. It’s a service tailored to each participant, and their family; not ‘one size fits all.’
Childcare is available as part of the programme to ensure participants can fully engage with the offer of support.
Who can access this support?
To be eligible for this support a participant must:
- Have a dependent child in the household,
- The right to work in the UK,
- Be unemployed or economically inactive
What will the Stronger Families Programme achieve?
The Programme will have a wide-range of positive outcomes for participants and their families. Families will be more financially secure, have improved health and well-being and feel more confident to enter the world of work. The ultimate aim is to support participants to remove barriers to employment. Our target is to work with just over 1000 participants during the programme’s lifetime.
