This quiet and relatively undiscovered trek traverses 87kms of high level passes through some of Italy’s most stunning and rugged mountain scenery.
The terrain is demanding, but walkers are rewarded with scenic limestone cliffs and an infinite variety of flora and fauna in all directions! The expedition lasts 8 days in total with 6 days of walking covering 87kms and an impressive 6340 metres of ascent.
What to expect
The route will take you into some beautiful but wild mountainous terrain surrounded by Alpine meadows, glistening lakes and cascading waterfalls. You will see an abundance of wildlife such as Ibex grazing in the open valleys and birds circling in the shadows of the Gran Paradiso itself. You will experience the wonder of hidden mountain villages and stay at some remote mountain used by serious climbers and mountaineers!
More about the trip
You will walk in groups of up to a maximum of 10 people. Qualified and experienced mountain leaders and advanced first-aiders will accompany you at all times. You will cross high mountain passes up to 3336 metres, staying in remote mountain huts so the expedition requires stamina and a good head for heights! You will self-cater as a group and learn to live, walk, eat and sleep as a close-knit team.
Most of the trek is on distinct waymarked trails in alpine valleys broken up by a number of traverses of higher level passes. There is no roped climbing or rock, snow or ice, though a confidence rope will be offered on some of the rockier paths if required.
Please note: For safety reasons all our routes may vary to accommodate individual abilities within the group, difficult weather conditions and the availability of accommodation.
