Francesca first came to Brathay having being referred by the Police. it was her own mother who alerted them, having been at the receiving end of too many of her daughter's irrational and violent attacks. The Police witnessed Francesca's outrage firsthand and immediately put her forward for our Families First programme where she met her Brathay Keyworker, Kirrin.

When I first met Kirrin I was nervous and stubborn and didn’t want anyone working with me or my mum but then I started to reaslise that she only wanted to help us as much as she could. She was genuine and kind and I started to trust her. She understood me and the things I was dealing with and thanks to her and the techniques she gave me I became much more relaxed and calm. I liked the fact that she was non-judgemental and I wasn’t embarrassed about working with her and I felt comfortable asking for advice and help.

Brathay has saved us as a family. Francesca went back being the loving daughter I knew she could be before her violent outbursts started and I can’t thank Kirrin and Families First enough for the support they have gave us. Not only did it change my daughter for the better at home but she started to excel at school.
