GIVE YOURSELF A TREAT AND
ESCAPE TO BEAUTIFUL BRATHAY

A staycation at Brathay gives you everything you need for a well-deserved break that will get you away from it all and boost your wellbeing.

Whatever the weather, or time of year, and however chilled or super-adventurous you want to be, we have en-suite rooms, self-catering properties and campervan pitches to suit. Our 360-acre estate at the head of lake Windermere where guests enjoy unrivalled peace and quiet just minutes from the delights and facilities of lovely Ambleside.

An idyllic setting

As staycations go, you’d struggle to find a more ideal setting. Brathay is at the epicentre of all the exciting attractions and outdoor adventures the Lake District has to offer, yet we are tucked away, surrounded by the beautiful mountain views that have inspired our most famous poets and artists for centuries, with our own ancient woodlands and private lake access.

A touch of grandeur!

At the heart of the estate is Brathay Hall, an impressive Georgian country house where we have a choice of en-suite accommodation.

Homely and comfortable

We believe our accommodation takes some beating, not just for its central location just minutes from the shops, restaurants and bars in Ambleside, but also for its affordability and flexibility. We want all our guests to enjoy a peaceful, relaxed and comfortable stay.

Wander in peace

Our guests are welcome to explore the grounds and take a stroll down to the lakeside during their stay. All we ask is that dogs are kept on leads (we often have livestock in adjacent fields) and that you keep a safe distance from any outdoor activities going on around the site.

Room for all

We also offer en-suite accommodation in stylish Swiss-style lodges close to the Hall; a traditional Lakeland self-catering house ideal for families; five electric hook-up pitches and hostel-style accommodation for larger groups.

Brathay Hall is also
home to our charity
Brathay Trust.

We deliver life-changing wellbeing programmes to disadvantaged young people across Northern England and most get to stay at Brathay as part of the experience.

By paying to stay with us you are supporting this good cause.

Brathay is 75 this year!

We work with young people, families, employers and employees, to enhance wellbeing and create long-lasting personal change.
