What It’s Really Like to Run the
Brathay 10in10 — From the Women Who’ve Done It!
Emily and Louise share what it’s really like to take on the 10in10; the highs, the challenges, and why they’d do it all over again and again.
What’s it really like to run the Brathay 10in10? Emily and Louise had never done anything like this before, but they signed up to the 10in10 for a challenge and ended up gaining so much more. Louise has completed the Brathay 10in10 twice, in 2022 and 2025, Emily joined her as a finisher in 2025. From a deep sense of personal achievement to the friendships formed, their stories show how special the Brathay 10in10 truly is. Now, they want to cheer you on and welcome you to the 10in10 community.
If you're thinking about it, we're still taking applications for the Brathay 10in10 2026. It will kick off on 1st May 2026, this could be your year!
Emily Taylor - 10in10 2025 Finisher
The 10in10 brought together younger/older, faster/slower, men/women, all of us runners with different goals and experiences. From the moment we crossed the start line we were a team, united by a common goal to reach Day 10 and support Brathay's invaluable work with young people along the way.

Crossing the start line felt like a journey into the unknown. After years of competing and chasing times, this challenge — for me — was simply about completing ten marathons. It was a rare opportunity to live in the moment and for ten days, thinking only of the next mile ahead of me. Despite not looking at my watch I surprised myself with ten very consistent marathons and I was delighted to cross the finish line on Day 10 knowing that I had run every single step of the 262 miles.

Louise Cantley - 10in10 2022 & 2025 Finisher
I signed up for my first Brathay 10in10 after seeing the 2021 team doing their lap of honour, whilst I completed the 2021 Windermere Marathon in a personal best. At this point I had only(!) done 18 marathons, the first of which was in 2002. I was a recreational runner, not elite, or quick but I wanted a challenge. I was delighted to be accepted and to be able to raise money for a fantastic charity that supports young people, a cause that is close to my heart.
The event was an amazing experience from signing up to completing Day 10 with incredible support from Brathay staff, volunteers and the physio team. From the school kids shouting our names to the support team writing our names on "ice cream mountain" it was wonderful. I've made friends for life having shared highs and lows during the event — it is definitely a life highlight.

Day 10 in 2022 was my 40th marathon. It gave me the confidence to try to get to 100, and I achieved this on the 4th day of the 2025 Brathay 10in10 (yes, it was such a great experience that I did it again). It was wonderful to run the last few miles of this day with my eldest grandson, and then my eldest granddaughter presented my medal. This was the icing on the cake for me, as I brought them up owing to their parents experiencing difficulties. They had lots of support, but many young people don’t have any — hence my choice of charity. Looking back, Brathay and running have taken me on an unforgettable journey. Give it a go you may be surprised where it takes you!
