Lakeland Multi-activity Adventure
We are hopeful that we will soon be able to bring back our Lakeland multi-activity adventure - a busy and challenging 5-day experience counts towards DofE Gold.
Our Lakeland Multi-activity Adventure is an action-packed outdoor experience that will challenge your nerve; develop your fitness, and teach you new skills you never thought possible.
It is a flexible programme that allows for all levels of ability and changing weather conditions and offers a range of exciting things to do including climbing, abseiling, ghyll scrambling, bushcraft, high ropes, canoeing and hiking. You will either camp or self-cater, depending on the time of year, and will eat, sleep, and participate in activities as a supportive, close-knit team.
What to expect
Our Lakeland Multi-activity option gives you 5 full days of outdoor challenges. It is a great introduction to an active mountain life and you will get the chance to develop your outdoor skills whatever your level of experience. The week is also ideal as a standalone Gold DofE Residential.
More about the trip
The week will introduce you to a variety of adventure activities both out and about on the Lakeland fells and within our own grounds at Brathay Hall in Ambleside. You will be self-catering for the whole week, either staying in one of our lodges in our own grounds or camping at a nearby campsite.
Possible extras include a short first-aid course which will award you with a certificate at the end, the the opportunity to paddle on Windermere in one of your customised whaler boats, and, if the weather permits, a 'bivi' night sleeping out under the stars.
All activities are led by qualified and experienced instructors and all specialised outdoor kit is provided.
As with all our courses, teamwork is a key requirement as you'll need to set up camp, cook meals and live together for the best part of a week. Your communication and social skills will be put to the test as much as your practical, outdoor skills.
This Lakeland Multi-activity Adventure qualifies as a Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award Residential.
