Meet Teresa Jennings our CEO: reflecting on the last 4 months

We were thrilled to announce in July the arrival of our new Chief Executive, Teresa Jennings, who brings more than 20 years’ experience of working in the charitable sector.

Teresa joined us from n-compass, a health and social care charity based in Lancashire. During her tenure, she helped to grow the number of adults and children supported by the Charity to over 25,000 by extending the Charities geographical reach from Lancashire to across the Northwest and into the Midlands. However, one of her proudest achievements was the announcement last February that n-compass was the third best charity to work for in the UK.

When asked to share her initial reflections since joining Brathay in the Summer, she says,

 Brathay has a tremendous heritage, and I have been really struck by our reach, impact, and the difference we really do make to the lives of the young people we support. We have a fantastic staffing team who are passionate and dedicated to our founding cause of supporting children and young people in need. This founding purpose will remain at the heart of our strategy moving forward.

I look forward to leading Brathay on its journey of increased impact and outcomes for young people, and to developing our own not-for-profit enterprises including, individual and team leadership development programmes for businesses, including aspiring leaders and apprentices. And also, our own fundraising Challenge events, and our staycations offer for visitors on our lakeside estate. These entrepreneurial enterprises not only deliver fantastic outcomes for those who engage with them, but they also help us fund our work with young people.

I am now four months into my role and have been getting out and about as much as possible, connecting with existing stakeholders and funders.
