Our community programs are essential for delivering our charity's core purpose of supporting young people in need. Here's what's been happening over the last few months.
Youth Matters Party In The Park
Our Youth Matters Project in Kendal teamed up with South Lakes Police to organise a free, social, and safe event for young people in the area.
It was a huge success, with about 100 young people enjoying the night, accompanied by music from local DJ Harry Lannaway.
We were delighted to receive glowing feedback from parents the following morning, expressing how much their young people enjoyed the event and excited about the idea for another one soon.
Our team wrapped up the busy night by treating themselves to a well deserved cup of tea!
Snow Days for Elevate South Lakes and Barrow
We've had some beautiful snowy days at Brathay Hall and Elevate South Lakes and Elevate Barrow cohorts both enjoyed their adventure days in a winter wonderland.
Elevate is a vital early prevention programme for young people in South Lakes, offering them extra support to make positive choices.
Through the programme, the young people will have:
- opportunities to stretched themselves and experience overcoming challenges — like canoeing on a frozen Windermere at their first activity day
- engaged in meaningful conversations with their youth workers and delivery staff about what's going on in the lives and how they are feeling
- which all leads to positive personal development and building aspirations for the future
We're looking forward to activity days with Mountain Rescue and Horizon Studios.
HAF is a BIG Hit in Bradford
Looking back to Christmas quickly - our team delivered a successful HAF (Holiday, Activities and Food) at our Bradford Hub over the Christmas School Holiday.
The young people had new experiences Go-Karting, playing at laser tag and a trip to the pantomime. As well as playing games, crafts, cooking delicious Christmas treats and a special visit from Father Christmas!
HAF provides vital support during the school holidays for families who receive free school meals. Our supportive team at Bradford provided a safe space, fun activities and delicious, nutritious cooked dinners.
Even Santa popped by for a visit!
