Our community programmes are vital to fulfilling our charity's mission of supporting young people to build brighter futures. Here’s an update on our recent activities as we approach summer.
Expanding Our Support: Elevate Heads To Eden
We're thrilled to announce that our Elevate programme is being offered to young people living in the Eden District of Cumbria.
Elevate is an early intervention programme that supports vulnerable young people to become re-engaged with learning and education. It provides help before they they find themselves not in education and at risk of being involved in anti-social or offending behaviour.

So far, we've supported close to 100 young people through Elevate. Today, we are supporting 30 more young people across Barrow-in-Furness, South Lakes and now Eden. We're providing them with opportunities that inspires them to make positive choices and build brighter futures.

Supporting Young Asylum Seekers and Refugees To Thrive
After a successful pilot, our team in Bradford will be working with a second cohort of young asylum seekers and refugees to feel safe and supported to engage with their local community.
The UNITE programme aims to promote wellbeing, improve mental health and resilience, and connect young people and their families with the local community, helping them build support networks and access needed services.
We're proud to be a safe space for young asylum seekers living in Bradford, helping them and the local community support each other.

From Risk to Resilience! Helping Young People Envision A Brighter Future
At Brathay, we’re proud to deliver a mentoring programme in partnership with Co-op Academy Grange, focused on creating positive pathways for young people facing challenging life circumstances. This programme aims to prevent crime by offering unique opportunities for young people who have become disengaged with education, helping them envision a brighter future and understand their potential.
Leading this programme is one of our dedicated Youth Workers, Inderjeet (Indy). He has a background as a professional athlete and brings valuable experience in personal development, resilience-building, and goal-setting, serving as a relatable and inspiring role model for young people who may feel out of place in traditional educational environments. Through his guidance, participants gain a clearer view of what they can achieve and the steps needed to get there.
In addition to one-on-one mentoring, the programme collaborates with JAMES (Joint Activities and Motor Education Service), where young people develop hands-on skills in areas like motor vehicle mechanics and go-karting. The initiative also includes VR-based education on the risks of gang involvement, making these lessons engaging and impactful.
We’ve seen real, positive change among the young people in this programme. One participant, Zayan*, was truly inspired by working with Inderjeet, gaining confidence and motivation to build a brighter future.
