Celebrating Our AHOEC Gold Award!
This recognition celebrates the quality and impact of our outdoor learning experiences and the dedication of our team.
We’re delighted to share some fantastic news: Brathay has been awarded the AHOEC Gold Standard, this is a recognition of the quality and impact of our outdoor learning experiences.
This award is a big deal in the outdoor education world. It’s given to organisations that demonstrate excellence in safety, learning outcomes, and professional development. For us, it’s a proud moment that reflects the dedication and passion of our team in helping young people thrive.
The timing couldn’t have been better! We received the award during the AHOEC National Conference, which we had the privilege of hosting here at Brathay this week. The conference brought together professionals from across the sector to learn, share best practice, and explore how we can all support young people across the UK to develop and become the best they can be.
This is great recognition of all the hard work and dedication of our team to supporting young people and professional development. Hosting the AHOEC National Conference has been a fantastic opportunity to learn, share best practice, and network within the outdoor sector. Together, we’re focused on how we can help young people across the UK develop and become the best they can be.

What Does AHOEC Gold Mean?
The AHOEC Gold Standard is the highest level of accreditation for outdoor education providers. It’s a mark of trust and quality, showing that our programmes are safe, impactful, and designed to make a real difference in the lives of young people.
At Brathay, we believe in the power of outdoor learning to change lives. Every year, we support over 7,000 young people to build brighter futures whether through transformative experiences in the Lake District or targeted support in their own communities. This award reinforces what we’ve always known: that our approach works, and it matters.
We’re excited for what’s next!
