Brathay is saving energy and helping to keep guests fit and healthy by serving a nutritious and tasty continental breakfast.
The offer applies to all our overnight guests, from B&B visitors staying at Brathay Hall; business delegates and apprentices staying with us for corporate training, and young people and families taking part in our many residential courses.
The buffet is meat-free and serves fresh food daily. It is designed to be nutritious and energising – the perfect start to any active day, no matter what activity our guests are taking part in.
The new menu has environmental benefits too. Not only are we reducing our energy consumption with less cooking time, but the self-serve style buffet is minimising food waste as we are finding that with our continental option there is less food being left uneaten on visitors’ plates. The buffet allows visitors to keep helping themselves whereas with our traditional cooked breakfast there was a tendency for some of our young people to over-estimate how much they could actually eat!
Our new continental breakfast spread offers guests more choice with a wide selection of cereals, toast and croissants, crumpets and hard boiled eggs. As part of our bid to be even healthier we have also increased our fruit offering to include mixed berries, sliced fresh fruit and fruit bowls.
We are now fully committed to offering yoghurts and cereals containing less sugar and are serving alternative vegetarian and vegan products. Almond and soya milk, soya yoghurt, and dairy-free pastries and muffins are all served daily. Gluten free bread and cereals are also available on request.
