Brathay helps young people bridge the employability gap

30 June 2022

We welcomed participants from We Mind The Gap, Wrexham, to Brathay for a personal development residential that will help them achieve long-term employment.

During their 3-day stay in Ambleside the 'Gappies', as the young people refer to themselves, stepped up to the challenges, achieving more than they thought possible at ghyll scrambling; canoeing; identifying behaviours, barriers and achievements; and problem solving. These are vital experiences that will build aspirations and self-worth in a safe, non-judgmental and supportive environment.

We Mind The Gap is a social mobility charity that gives new opportunities to young people so they can build a bright life plan. It offers life-changing programmes for 18+ years olds that can include paid employment, work placements, coaching and mentoring sessions and new experiences. It effects their self esteem and thereafter employability.

We knew we could help make a difference to their lives at Brathay as our two charities are committed to improving the life-chances of young people, through unashamed support.
