A warm welcome to our new CEO!

We are thrilled to announce the arrival of our new Chief Executive Officer, Teresa Jennings, who brings more than 20 years’ experience working in the charity sector.

Teresa joins us from n-compass, a health and social care charity based in Preston, where she was CEO for eight years. During that time she helped to grow the organisation from 70 employees to 170, increasing turnover from £2.1m to £7m and extending its services across the North-west and into the Midlands.

She is looking forward to steering our charity through the next stage of its 75-year journey, supporting us in our delivery of life-changing community programmes that transform the lives of thousands of less advantaged young people every year.

I am delighted to be joining Brathay. I am motivated by developing organisations that are passionate about making a difference to people’s lives, and that is exactly what has drawn me here.

I’ve worked in the third sector for most of my adult working life. The charity’s founding purpose, and the difference Brathay makes to people’s lives, are very tangible and compelling to me. However, it’s not just about the lives of those we support and serve. It also matters hugely to me that Brathay has a healthy workplace culture for our employees and volunteers. I look forward to leading Brathay on its journey towards increased impact and being recognised as great place to work and volunteer.

Teresa will also be looking at how we make ourselves even more financially sustainable through our fundraising activities and our own not-for-profit enterprises including Challenge events for the public, individual and team leadership development programmes for businesses, and room-only and self-catering staycations for visitors on its lakeside estate.

She hopes to utilise her people skills, experience in change management and business acumen to further strengthen Brathay’s impact and reach.
