Transforming leadership
in Arts and Culture

Changing Culture is a new leadership programme aimed at developing the next creative leaders in Cumbria and North Lancashire.

Brathay has teamed up with key partners The University of Cumbria and Theatre by the Lake in Keswick to bring this exciting and innovative course to support those who aspire to progressing their career within the Arts and Culture sector.

Changing Culture is a northern-based imitative, introduced in recognition of the fact that historically there have been lots of barriers for talented people to achieve leadership positions within Arts and Culture. We want to make sure that creative sector in Cumbria and North Lancashire remains vibrant and strong, attracting a diverse, energetic and inspirational groups of would-be leaders.

The programme has been designed to provide opportunities for people from all backgrounds to realise their potential by gaining the practical and business skills they need to position themselves as creative leaders. This is a fully-funded course, supported by our charity, and as such opens new doors for those who would otherwise not have been able to access full-time higher education, especially those living in our remotest rural areas.

Through a dynamic mix of classroom learning, leadership residentials at Brathay, workshops, action learning sets, mentoring and work experience placements, each student is able to receive and enjoy an truly individual learning experience. This helps them to grow in confidence, build new networks, and learn useful techniques and coping strategies that will guide them through the personal and professional challenges that lay ahead.
