Looking for a peaceful location for your camper van or motorhome stay in the Lake District?
Close to the picturesque town of Ambleside, in the Lake District, the impressive Brathay Hall is set in acres of mature woodland and rolling pasture at the head of Windermere, with our stunning location the perfect base for your walking or cycling adventure, or simply as a peaceful starting point for families and friends exploring the area.
Ambleside is just a picturesque 20 minute stroll away, and boasts an established collection of restaurants and traditional public houses, as well as its own museum and independent cinema and jazz bar. If a more leisurely day out is your thing, this attractive Cumbrian town has excellent shopping facilities and is a treat for the outdoor enthusiast.
Located within the peaceful grounds of Brathay Hall, we have six grasscrete pitches available for weekend stays, and some mid-week stays in summer, including electrical hook-up.
Access to a water supply is available onsite, but please note that this isn't at the pitch site.
You are welcome to enjoy the grounds of Brathay Hall during your stay.
We are unable to offer toilet or showering facilities, or disposal of chemical toilet waste. Whilst canopies for campervans/motorhomes are fine, we do no permit pitching of tents.
Please note: the site is on sloping ground, so level-up wheel ramps may be required.
If you're using one of our pitches and want some extra adventure, we've got a range of exciting activities for you on the Brathay Estate!
Choose from a variety of adventurous activities overseen by our fully qualified instructors.
Take to the water and enjoy kayaking, canoeing (solo, or in groups on our Challenger canoes), or a voyage on our vintage whaler rowing boats.
We also have expert-guided aerial activities including high ropes, climbing walls, zip wire, tree abseiling, the exhilarating 'leap of faith' and the 2-person challenge of the high Vs.
If you'd prefer something a bit less adrenaline-fuelled, we can take you on a guided walk in the local area, with a level of challenge to suit you, from a couple of hours enjoying the views from a small hill, to a full-blown mountain day.
Plus, we've got the thrills of local ghyll scrambling, discovering bushcraft skills, and some fascinating problem-solving exercises.
Pitches are available for a minimum of two nights - Friday and Saturday - at weekends, for £25 per night.
Mid-week stays during the summer are also available for a minimum of two nights, from £25 per night.
