Every week or so, someone makes a return visit to Brathay Hall, here in Ambleside; often they haven’t been back for years, sometimes decades.
There is nothing more pleasurable than to hear them share the learning and experiences they got from their Brathay programme. People often bring their family, telling them all about their course. They tell our staff about their life experiences, and how their Brathay programme has shaped some of the decisions they have made.
Brathay programmes make a huge impact on the lives of many people; not only those who experienced Brathay first hand, but their family, their employer, their community.
Nicola came on one of our courses back in 1983:
It was a positive and inspiring experience that has carried me forward through my home and working life. I joined Love Brathay as I thought it important that the work Brathay does continues and proves an inspiration for life for young people today as it was for me. I have always remembered Brathay very fondly, so much so that I’ve brought my niece and nephew to stay in the B&B accommodation.
So many people have wanted to support our work with children and young people, once they see the benefit we are able to offer, that we decided to launch Love Brathay; a way of keeping in touch with the power of our work, reading about wellbeing, which drives our mission, and finding out how you can support Brathay, and perhaps get some good deals.
Most people who have had a connection with Brathay are vitally interested in what we are doing now; they take great pleasure in hearing about today’s work; last year we worked with 9,000 young people. All of them will have had their stories to tell; if you have an experience to share, we would love to hear from you.
It may inspire others to Love Brathay as much as we do!
