Head of Finance

Part time (4 days per week) | £60,000 per annum FTE (£48,000 per annum for 0.8 FTE) | Ambleside

We’re looking to appoint someone to support Brathay's sustainability, strengthen financial leadership and help the organisation to continue to deliver transformational work with young people across the UK.

The postholder will report into the Chief Executive, and will support them and the Trustees by providing clear financial insight, strengthening financial controls, overseeing statutory responsibilities and helping drive organisational sustainability and improvement. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring both strategic oversight and operational delivery.

Essential Person Specification

  • Significant senior-level finance experience, ideally within a charity, public sector or valuesled organisation.
  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Experience of financial leadership, budgeting, forecasting and management reporting.
  • Experience of developing and improving financial controls, systems and processes.
  • Experience of working with senior leaders, Boards or Trustees.
  • Strong understanding of financial governance and compliance.
  • Experience managing teams and supporting organisational change.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to non-financial audiences.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
  • Understands and models good leadership and collaborative behaviours, working effectively with others to achieve shared goals and deliver positive outcomes.
  • Should have experience of working in smaller organisations
  • High levels of integrity, professionalism and discretion.
  • Strong IT skills including financial systems and Microsoft Excel.
  • Understanding of employment law and organisational compliance.

Invitation To Tender – Capital Income Generation Support

Core deliverable to secure £500,000 capital funding by 31st March 2027.

Brathay Trust is inviting expressions of interest from experienced individuals, organisations or consortia to act as its capital-income generation support; to secure funding for packages of capital works in and around our 23-acre Estate, near Ambleside.

The successful applicant will help Brathay refine a compelling capital investment proposition, identify and engage credible funders, investors and strategic partners, and convert suitable opportunities into secured commitments. This is an outcome and time focused appointment. Depending on the success of this appointment there may be an opportunity to extend this arrangement beyond March 2027.

Family Aide Worker

£23,873 per annum (Full-Time Equivalent for 35 hours) | 30 hours per week | Bradford

Youth Worker

£25,500 per annum | 35 hours per week | Bradford

Join Our Team in Bradford: Empower Children, Young People & Families to Thrive.

Brathay has secured ongoing funding to deliver Universal and Targeted Early Help group & 121 support to young people across Bradford. We are excited to have secured ongoing and new funding to deliver activity based learning programmes in groups and 121 mentoring alongside to inspire young people to Build their Brighter Futures.

Together, we will deliver a blend of engaging group activities and one to one support designed to build emotional wellbeing, resilience and a sense of belonging—helping young people Feel like their Best Selves and Thrive within their Communities.

.As a Youth Worker at Brathay, you will:

  • Engage with children and young people referred for support. 
  • Design, deliver and report on group programmes that promote wellbeing and resilience. 
  • Provide 1:1 support. 
  • Help prevent escalating needs and reduce pressure on statutory services. 
  • Be flexible to work evenings and weekends, to support delivery at a time where Young People can access our support. 
  • Deliver a wide range of youth participation projects across both school and community settings, working with children and young people from primary age upwards.
  •  Be responsible for designing, delivering and evaluating high quality, evidence based and trauma informed wellbeing and resilience programmes for children, young people and families.

This includes one to one coaching, facilitating group work in schools and community settings, and delivering detached sessions in the community.
