I'm 43 years old and originally from North Yorkshire. I now live in Kent with my nine year old daughter and golf loving husband. I've always been into health and fitness but running is relatively new to me, especially distance running. I joined my local running club Larkfield AC six years ago and my first marathon was four years ago. Since then I have run over 100 marathons, 20 of which have been around Lake Windermere!

I was lucky to be part of the Brathay 10in10 team in 2014 and 2015, raising over £10,000 for Brathay Trust. It's my way of giving something back and showing others that anything is possible. You just need to believe in yourself. If I, an ordinary working mum, can run 262 hard, hilly miles in 10 days others can too and in doing so help others.

Having completed the challenge twice before, I know exactly how gruelling, testing, brutal, physically and mentally hard it is. I've seen and felt what happens in those 10 days, the elation, the tears, the agony and pain but ultimately the joy and sense of total achievement. But it's not just the 10 days of the actual event, it's so much more than that, it's about the year of physical training, the year of fundraising, planning and organising events, the time away from your family. It becomes part of your life, Brathay becomes part of your family.
