Brathay North West targeted youth programmes
The Brathay North West Team are now developing and delivering community based targeted young people programmes across the region. These innovative programmes are aimed at 'need to reach' young people, who may have become disengaged with education and their communities.
Programmes are led by a Brathay Senior Youth Worker, and can take place in a range of community settings. For example youth centres, hostels, detatched youth projects, community centres, family centres and schools. All programmes include a residential experience at Brathay Hall in Ambleside.
Individual programmes can be delivered over a 12 week period, with a maximum of 16 young people.
Each programme is distinct and is developed with the partner organisation. They include a range of activities that may be:
Skill based such as leadership and team building skills, self esteem and confidence building, motivational and participation skills.
Issue based - exploring a range of issues and themes that affect young people such as anti-social behaviour, health, education and unemployment, relationships, family life, managing money.
Project based - empowering young people to get involved in designing, developing and delivering a community based project such as inter generational projects.
Personal Development -including the use of life coaching techniques that may relate to personal goal setting and developing personal strategies and skills.
Programmes are presently being developed and delivered in Liverpool, Sefton, Preston and Rochdale.
St Leonards Youth Club
Brathay is working with St Leonard's Youth Club, an independent youth club located in the Peel Rd area of Bootle, to deliver a 12 week programme which aims to engage young people in positive activities. We will be working on issues that affect young people and their community using inspiring sessions, team games, competitive activities and group discussions.
