Brathay in the community
We are expanding our reach to provide youth development within communities across Cumbria. Commissioned by Cumbria Youth Support Services (CYSS), Brathay is responsible for delivering Participation throughout Cumbria.
What does this mean?
We are getting the young people of Cumbria involved!
We give them the skills and opportunities to make their views heard and have their say on the development, delivery and evaluation of issues and services that affect their lives.
How do we do this?
By asking the young people what does and doesn’t work and what they would change to make things better. Working with young people in their communities, we provide the skills and motivation for them to get involved and be confident enough to make their views heard by adult decision makers.
We want young people to take their ideas about how to change the world around them and create a groundswell of support for that change.
Youth of Today Programme launch
Brathay are working in Cumbria with a group of young people aged between 13 – 19 years, nominated due to them demonstrating a ‘leadership spark’.
We aim to provide them with training, mentoring, funding and networking opportunities, which will enable them to make changes in their own communities and develop as young leaders.
The group have had some fantastic ideas and over the next few months we will be working with them to help transform these ideas into young people led projects.
If you feel that you have the ‘leadership spark’ and would like to get involved, then please contact Clare Dyson to find out more.
