Young People

Our vision for a brighter future

Our youth development programmes empower young people to make a positive contribution to society.  Linking directly with the ‘Every Child Matters’ agenda we combine learning with life changing experiences.

Our work can be residential or community based, and uses three unique approaches;

  • Experiential learning
  • Targeted youth work
  • Neighbourhood community safety practice

Delivering national targets, Brathay and PSA14

Focusing on increasing participation, resilience and tackling negative outcomes, our local initiatives are part of a much bigger national picture; here’s how:

Indicator 1: Reduce the percentage of 16 – 18 year olds not in education, employment or training (NEET)

We work closely with young people to help them re-engage with the education system in addition to working with leadership teams in schools and colleges to support those working with challenging circumstances.

Indicator 2: More participation in positive activities

We ensure young people are heard and participate fully in the design and delivery of a range of personally challenging activities, providing them with the opportunity to reflect on their learning.

Indicator 3: Reduce the proportion of young people frequently using illicit drugs, alcohol or volatile substances

We give young people the space and chance to create an honest and open dialogue; to discuss the underlying reasons for their substance misuse, providing them with coping strategies and positive alternatives.

Indicator 4: Reduce the number of first-time entrants to the Criminal Justice System aged 10 – 17

Working with partners in local communities we design and deliver creative intervention programmes.  These provide the young people with intensive support and offer viable pathways to positive choices.
