UK Skills Partnership
Partnership for excellence in skills
A decade of partnership with UK Skills
Success at the WorldSkills Games
We are proud to announce that Brathay's acclaimed training and development programme has helped the UK Skills team achieve its best ever performance at the WorldSkills Games in Canada. The UK is now ranked 7th in the world, up 4 places since the 2007 WorldSkills games in Japan.
Brathay’s partnership with UK Skills goes back 10 years, providing training and coaching to UK Skills competitors, training managers and team leaders. A large part of the recent success has been the result of the sophisticated model of training & development pioneered by Brathay through this partnership. Brathay has used its expertise in people development and experiential learning to enhance the Squad and Team training and preparation.
This support includes a number of residential development programmes at Brathay’s Lake District venue such as induction to the WorldSkills competitions, physical and psychological performance development. After the Squad has been selected, through a gruelling 4 day competition event in June, the Brathay team go onto provide in-depth 1:1 personal development coaching, geared towards helping potential competitors achieve and realize their true potential.
We have also recruited and appointed 3 WorldSkills Team Leaders for UK competitors who provide essential personal development and pastoral support throughout the entire competition cycle.
Jeremy Anderson, Head of Quality and Performance, says: " Our relationship with UK Skills is a true partnership through which we act as a trusted advisor, providing the leadership, knowledge and experience vital to the development and delivery of the UK Skills Learning and Development framework."
We are now working towards even better performance at WorldSkills London 2011.
