North West group get on their bikes!

Posted Wednesday, 17 March 2010, 3.06pm

Brathay Trust's North West office have been working with a group of 16 hard to reach young men at St Leonard’s Youth Club in Bootle for the past few months involving them in positive activities through a programme called Health, Football & Fitness.

This Sunday, March 21st, the group are participating in a sponsored bike ride, in aid of teenage cancer ward at Alder Hey Hospital. The participants will be cycling the Sefton Coastal Path from Crosby Activity Centre to Southport Train Station. The group really wanted to make a positive contribution to their community and thought this would fulfil the theme of the programme and benefit others. As part of the programme, the group have been attending issue based workshops, they have organised a community football match with police officers and cso’s from Marsh Lane Police Station and will be attending a leadership/personal development residential at Brathay Hall.

For more information or to support the group contact Sean Atkins.

The event has been supported by Positive Futures in Sefton who have provided bikes and protective head gear
