Brathay is set to find the best young apprentice team in England thanks to the launch of our new Brathay Apprenticeship Challenge competition.
Eight teams, from some of the country’s leading employers, have registered to take part in the competition which will test the competitors problem solving abilities, before pitting them against each other in a number of gruelling outdoor challenges at our Ambleside training HQ.
The eight person teams will complete the Challenge over a two month period. The pressure will be on to prove who has the best business acumen aligned with the stamina required to cope with the physical rigours of the Lake District.
The teams, which include apprentices from corporate giants such as Bentley, the Co-operative, Virgin Media, the National Apprenticeship Service, defence manufacturers MBDA and aerospace firm Cobham, will be joined by a team made up of apprentices who are also GB Junior Rowing Team potentials, giving the Challenge a decidedly Olympian flavour.
Jez Anderson, from Brathay’s Professional Development team said: “The Challenge is designed to build on the work we have been doing for many years, helping apprentices’ personal development and demonstrating that apprentices don’t just help businesses grow, they also help develop their local communities. The search for the apprentice team of the year will not only demonstrate the formidable skills of the nation’s apprentices, but will also demonstrate the range of careers available to apprentices.”
The Brathay Apprenticeship Challenge will culminate in a full day contest at Brathay Hall on 16th March. The winning team will be the one who amasses the highest cumulative points score over the duration of the competition.
In order for the teams to succeed they will have to demonstrate excellent communication, planning, problem solving, decision making, team working and leadership skills. As part of their Challenge teams will be expected to:
Enhance their local and national profile in the media
Increase their company profile as an employer of high quality apprenticeships
Support a local or national charity
Support the launch of the Brathay Apprenticeship Challenge as part of the official National Apprenticeship Week launch
The Brathay Apprenticeship Challenge is set to become an eagerly awaited, annual, event coveted by young apprentices, and businesses, throughout England.
