Brathay are working across the North West region with a wide range of diverse partners, from the public, private and voluntary sector

Our specialist Youth Work Programmes, Experiential Learning Residential and creative Community Development Initiatives, are inspiring young people and communities to embrace their potential, and rise to present day challenges. These include:

  • Tackling anti-social behaviour
  • Raising aspirations
  • Working together more effectively and supporting inter-generational work
  • Supporting Community Development, Volunteering and Social Capital
  • Increasing personal motivation to learn and develop
  • Sourcing funding

Specialist Youth Work Programmes

Our specialist Youth Work Programmes are ‘bespoke‘, this means we design, deliver and evaluate them in partnership with young people, and the organisations we work with.

In addition we have a range of existing programmes that can be delivered over a set period of time (six, eight or twelve weeks). All of our programmes have optional accreditation attached to them, include a residential experience at Brathay Hall in Ambleside, and can be delivered in a range of community venues including schools and colleges.

Programmes can include a selection of different experiences and skills for children and young people of all ages including: Life skills, leadership and team building skills, group work and conflict management, motivation and mentoring skills. Programmes can also work alongside young people on issues that affect them. For example families and relationships, health and well being, crime and consequences, making a positive difference in their communities and decision making skills.

Here are a small selection of our programmes - please takes a look:

Make A Difference (M.A.D. Programme)

The programme is aimed at NEET young people and those at risk of becoming NEET. It increases young people’s motivation, aspirations, and attainment and confidence levels. The programme has been developed and delivered in partnership with Preston Community College and Merseyside Connexions at Knowsley College. To find out more about the MAD programme click here

C.L.I.M.A.T.E. Change Programme

The C.L.I.M.A.T.E. Change programme is an innovative programme that has been developed to provide the opportunity for young people to recognise and articulate individual aspirations, skills, strengths, and areas for development. Although the programme can be delivered within a range of settings, it is predominantly aimed at Year 9 – Year 10 young people. The programme has been developed and delivered in partnership with Huyton Learning Collaborative and Christ the King High School in Knowsley, as well as Rochdale Youth Service – Detached Youth Work Team, and with a group of looked after young people from The Adolescent and Children’s Trust. On Side Arts/On Side Health, Football and Fitness/Girls On Side

The On Side programmes use sports and creative arts to engage young people in inspiring activities and relevant issue-based youth work. Onside programmes can be delivered to involve ‘need to reach young people’, perhaps those young people who would not normally participate. On Side, also involves young people working together to design and deliver a community event.

Girls On Side is a dedicated programme just for girls and young women. It can be delivered within venue buildings, or on a detached/outreach approach.

On Side has been developed and delivered in partnership with Merseyside Youth Association, St.Leonards Youth Centre in Bootle, Helena Housing  and Fives Sports Complex in St. Helens. To find out more about the On Side programme click here
