The deafening crack of the Gamekeepers shotgun got the Brathay Windermere Marthon underway on Sunday 20th May, and set off nearly 800 runners on their way around Windermere, arguably the most picturesque marathon in Europe.

Despite the inconvenience of shin splints and ankle problems, 35-year old Sally Ford, from Kirkby Lonsdale, battled through the pain barrier today to become the first women to win the Brathay 10in10, the hardest endurance challenge on the planet.
